Concert Poster

This project, a concert poster for one of my favorite musical artists, Raveena Aurora, was a passion project filled with learning and exploration.

Her music is very dreamy, soft, and “vibey” while also including elements of electric and indie pop, and she brings a mix of Grecian and Indian visuals to her music videos and album covers.

I started with a blank slate when I researched the artist as I did not know too much about her personal life. Along the way I had learned that she was an avid follower of the Buddhist, Hindu, and Sikh religions, especially the meditative and wellness aspects of the religions. I learned more about her personal values, how they aligned with her meditation and religious practices, and how they bled into her music and visual styles.

One of the important aspects of the Buddha’s journey was renouncing his vanity and material possession so that he could start his spiritual path, something that Raveena stated she was personally inspired by as she navigates her music career and time in the spotlight, especially after she blew up and started gaining more attention.

She stated that she used meditation to reflect on her past experiences and to look inward as she navigates her newfound fame and life, and I thought of the metaphor of cutting ones hair off: Raveena herself has long, gorgeous black hair, and I used the concept of cutting hair to symbolize her journey of cutting off her old identity, or naivety, to allow new hair, or experiences and knowledge, to come forth. Buddha renounced worldly pleasures in pursuit of his life’s purpose, or Dharma, and I adopted this message to fit Raveena’s Dharma: to create pleasant and beautiful music that encourages others to let go of the people that cause them turmoil and to seek what makes them happy.

The image translates her personal beliefs as well as the message of her music through the lens of Buddhism, while the softness of the imagery aligns with her own personal brand.
